last weekend in the garden

(photos are after descriptions, in order)
1. we have lots of strawberries growing all over our garden. they are delicious. the snails eat some of them and we let them. it's good for them too =).

2. we juice our organic collard greens everyday - with organic apples, celery, broccoli leaves (delicious in your juice), and many other things as we grow them =).

3. we are letting some of the broccoli plants flower and go to seed...we gather all seeds, store them, and - when the season is right - grow them.

4. we are always sprouting more plants - especially, always, leafy greens. these are baby kales, swiss chards, spinach, and lettuces. in the kitchen =).

5. last summer we had a tropical storm. during the storm, frogs mated in a tub of water outside our door. we raised the tadpoles, fed them cooked lettuce leaves every day, and watched them grow their little leggies and then - one day - leap out and run free. we still see them often =).

6. sprouting greens, with juicer in background =).

7. (red-shouldered hawk) florida has the most diverse, wild, and beautiful birds of anywhere in the US. this is a hawk watching over land the day before it was clear-cut to build a house on. it watched us as we saved all the small trees and plants. we relocated them to land where they would be safe and could survive.
